tiredI'll have to go with the latter. I haven't done Jack since this morning. I did write chapter 5 so all was not lost. I'm up to almost 8000 words with 18 days to go. Hubby is so supportive. He played on the computer all afternoon so that I could sit and think about what to write.
Chapter 5 started with Steve calling Betsy to apologize for some fight they had (not in the story). She doesn't really want to talk to him at first but she does. They just chat about school and if she's coming home to visit. His motivation was mostly to get some comfort about having to go out with his parent's and new sisters. But that is barely mentioned. At the end Betsy tells him she loves him and he freaks out. So he quickly calls Kate for advice on the situation.
Kate treats him like he's a 5 year old because he doesn't understand. She tells him
"I said I wasn't stupid enough to tell a guy I loved him. I never said I hadn't been in love before."
and he gets jealous. He doesn't realize that is what it is though. Anyway that was pretty much the whole thing. It should hopefully show that Steve has some kind of connection to Kate. Why else would he call her right away after finding out his girlfriend is in love with him.
I'm not sure where I'm going with chapter six, which is probably why I haven't started to write it yet. I think it should be the dinner scene but I don't know where to start. Should Hyde be picking up his girls and have to listen to them bitch the whole way there? Or should it start with him picking Jackie up (so those zennies out there can get their Jackie/Hyde interation fix) and have Steve drive himself and the girls find their own ride.
I want Steve to have an out so if he drives his mom's car that would work. I was thinking of either having him say he has to leave to pick Betsy up from the train station or have everyone get in a fight and him and Kelly both leave and he ends up giving her a ride home--just to show that Steve isn't as cold as she is.
Decisions, decisions.
